Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
The Howell Mountain American Viticultural Area (AVA) boasts a unique wine-growing environment, thanks to its elevation of over 1,400 feet and cooler climate that differs from the Napa Valley floor. This environment allows for a longer growing season and the preservation of natural acidity in the grapes.
For over four decades, Randy Dunn has been producing some of California’s finest Cabernet Sauvignons in this special region. Depending on your taste, these wines can be enjoyed while still young, but they are crafted to age for years and sometimes even decades. I have personally tasted some of their older vintages, with the oldest being 26 years old, and they are truly classic, traditional California wines that reflect the influence of Bordeaux.
While many Napa wineries have moved towards a more immediate-drinking style, Randy Dunn has remained true to its original approach, producing wines that are balanced with a harmonious blend of fruit and savory flavors, bold tannins, and high acidity, which provides vibrancy and lifts the underlying dark fruit notes.
