The wine opening masterpiece
Coravin is billed as a wine opening device. I think it should be called a World of Wine opening device.
Coravin was created in 2011 by Medical device inventor with a passion for wine, Greg Lambrecht.
Necessity being the mother of invention it is easy to see why Greg developed this new product.
Have you ever wanted a really great glass of wine for dinner but did not want to drink the whole beautiful bottle on a Wednesday night?
Have you ever wanted a nice glass of Cabernet Sauvignon but your significant other preferred a glass of Chardonnay or vice versa?
Have you ever wanted a nice crisp White Wine as an aperitif but a robust Red Wine with your main Course? The Coravin is the answer to all of these questions and more.
As one of their early customers circa 2012, I have been very happy with the results.
I have opened many many wines with mine and do in fact use one daily in my shop to pour samples of wines that I might not otherwise be able to because of cost or waste concerns.
I am thrilled to announce that I recently became a dealer for Coravin. I believe they are making an amazing and very practical device that any lover of of wine would benefit from owning.
Using the Coravin is very simple. Clamp the Coravin to the top of your wine bottle, push down on the top to drive the medical grade needle through the cork, tilt the spout over the top of your wine glass and use your thumb briefly depress the air release lever. When the glass has been filled to the desired level, lift the bottle upright to stop pouring. When you are done you can remove the Coravin by lifting on the handle at the top withdrawing the needle and allowing the cork to reseal itself. Because the air canister is filled with Argon (inert) your wine has not been exposed to the destructive possibilities of oxygen.
